How much coverage do I get from one cartridge?
A 300ml cartridge provides approximately 12-15 linear metres with a 5mm bead, or 6-8 metres with a 10mm bead. Coverage varies based on bead size and application method.
What size bead should I use?
Bead size depends on the gap width. As a general rule, use a bead slightly wider than the gap. For gaps up to 5mm, use a 5-6mm bead. For gaps 5-10mm, use an 8-10mm bead. For gaps over 10mm, use backing rod first.
Do I need to use backing rod?
For gaps wider than 10mm or deeper than 6mm, use closed-cell polyethylene backing rod. This prevents three-sided adhesion (which can cause failure) and reduces sealant usage.
Can I apply STYX in the rain?
Yes you can apply in the rain, just ensure while applying that you have pushed the bead whilst applying onto the surface, this should then push out the rain, standing water is different we do not recommend using in standing water.
